Registered Designs

Registered designs can be re-registered in Guernsey supported by a registration from one of the 29 designated countries as listed in The Registered Designs (Designated Countries) Regulations, 2006 which can be found at www.gov.gg/ipo

Amongst the countries included are the United Kingdom and the majority of EU members.

The definition for designs used in The Registered Designs (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Ordinance, 2005 is derived from the modern European provision with design meaning ‘the appreance of the whole or a part of the product resulting from the features of, in particular, the lines, contours, colours, shape, texture or materials of the product or its ornamentation’.

The duration of the registered design’s protection in the Bailiwick of Guernsey will subsist as long
